Directive to eliminate diarrhoeal diseases

KARACHI: Sindh Secretary Health and Population Welfare, Rukhsana Saleem, has directed that immediate steps be taken for the elimination of intestinal disorders and diarrhoeal diseases from the province.

Presiding a meeting here she also directed that distribution of ORS packets be ensured at all the educational institutions and other institutions, says an official statement here on Monday.

Rukhsana said that awareness be created among the masses for controlling this ailment and printed material be distributed at all the health centres in the province.

She said that at the medical camps to be organised by the Health Department, ORS packets would be made available.

The health secretary directed that the lady health visitors be trained about the problems pertaining to the intestinal disorders.

She also asked the population welfare department that at all the family planning centres posters be displayed carrying precautions pertaining to intestinal disorders.

The director of Diarrhoeal Diseases Control Programme Sindh, Mir Mohammad Shaikh on the occasion apprised about the steps that have been initiated by his organisation. APP
