Steps taken

to improve traffic

system in F'abad

FAISALABAD: The police have taken steps to improve further the traffic system here. The cops in plain clothes would monitor violation of traffic rules, said DSP Traffic Tahir Alam Khan here on Sunday.

He said that people suggestions would be given due importance for the redressal of genuine public complaints and resolve traffic-related problems.

Alam Khan said that practical measures are being taken to bring aqualitative change in the attitude of the traffic staff. "Directives have been issued to the traffic staff to work honestly and devotedly to build the image of the disciplined force," he added.

He said that traffic monitoring teams are being constituted to check over-speeding, overloading on highways that usually result in fatal traffic accidents. In this respect, all sector in-charge in plain clothes would monitor the movement of vehicles at specific points daily for a certain houses in the morning and evening.

They would record the details of the vehicles violating traffic rules without intercepting them. However, necessary action would be taken against the drivers on their return to the General Bus Stand or their respective stand, he added.

The vehicles disappearing from their respective stands would be traced from the record of the Excise Department to initiate proceedings against them, he said.

The DSP traffic also said that special lectures are being delivered in various educational institutions to create awareness particularly among the students. Boards with traffic rules would be installed in front of colleges and schools, he said and added that a seminar on traffic education would be held at the Jinnah Hall here on February 24. People representing various walks of life would attend this seminar.

Alam Khan further said that a one day refresher course would be arranged for the drivers. It would be held on February 17 and certificates would also be awarded to participants.

He said that a campaign had been started against the vehicles using pressure horn. The drivers using pressure horns wouldbe prosecuted while these horns would also be removed from the vehicles.ÑAPP
