PEC bye-laws revised
KARACHI: The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has implemented revised PEC bye-laws for the construction and operation of Engineering Works.
These revised bye-laws will be applicable for all foreign contractors, operators and engineering public organisations acting as clients and employers in Pakistan.
According to a PEC press release here on Sunday, a clear definition have been provided for local as well as foreign contractors and operators. With the implementation of new bye-laws client shall not allow participation of local as well as foreign contractors and operators in building without PEC licence. Foreign contractors and operators are required to enter into joint venture with local counterpart before registration and grant of license.
The PEC has warned that punitive action will be taken against the firms as well as employers on violation of PEC Act or bye-laws.
The convenor, Central Public Relations Committee PEC, Engineer S. Jamshed Rizvi has advised all foreign firms operating as contractor/ operator in Pakistan to apply for licence at the PEC Headquarter at Islamabad or Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta regional offices. APP
