Partridge hunting banned in Punjab
LAHORE: The Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department, in view of coming breeding session, has imposed ban on hunting of all species of partridge.
Wildlife and Parks Director General Punjab Dr. Abdul Aleem Chaudhry told APP here on Sunday that in view of advent of winter season, ban on hunting of water fowls was lifted till March 31, next.
The shooting of partridge, black and gray was allowed from November 16 to February 14. A person was allowed to shoot maximum six birds per day.
He said that limited hunting with valid licence was allowed only during Sunday and Gazetted holidays. About 8,681 violators were booked under wildlife act during the last year. He said that permanent ban on the hunting and netting of pheasants across the province has already been imposed.
DG said that a massive crack down has been launched against the poachers to save the national wildlife wealth and stop its indiscriminate hunting throughout the province. APP
