IT dept begins drive to realise arrears

LAHORE: Income Tax Department, on the special directive of Central Board of Revenue (CBR), has launched vigorous campaign to realise the income arrears under Land Revenue Act through attachment and auction of properties of chronic defaulters in Lahore.

Official sources said here on Sunday that a special monitoring cell has already been set up in Income Tax Department to review the overall performance of income tax officials in terms of recovery of arrears, redressal of genuine grievances of the tax payers and proper attendance of the staff.

Mohammad Tahir Assistant Commissioner, Income Tax and Wealth Tax, Circle 15 of Company zone A, and tax recovery officers at the offices of Deputy Commissioners Income Tax, Circle 17 and 16 respectively of some company zone have issued final notices to four registered companies. Medas Chemical Industry, Pvt. Ltd, Kot Rahda Kishin Road, Messrs Atlantic Automobiles Pvt. Ltd., Jail Road, Meditax Industrial Estate, Kotlakhpat and Micopaints Pvt Ltd to clear their tax liabilities worth Rs. 8.447 million soon otherwise their properties already stand attached to income tax department, will be put to auction.
