JI referendum on CTBT on March 23

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami has decided to seek the support of political parties in favour of its 'national referendum' scheduled for March 23, seeking consensus of the nation against signing of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT).

A high-level meeting, chaired by JI Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmed here on Saturday also decided to invite the Islamabad-based UN and foreign observers to witness the referendum.

Overseas Pakistanis will also be provided a chance to cast vote through JI web page on internet.

The meeting resolved that referendum boxes should be made available at public places like bus stands, busy intersections and mosques throughout the country.
