CTBT issue should be left to elected govt, says Ajmal Qadri
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: Central Ameer of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Muhammad Ajmal Qadri, has urged the government to rely on its own resources, instead of looking towards USA or any other foreign country.
He said: "we should frame our own policies in accordance with our requirements and wishes of the nation, as it is the only way to safeguard our nuclear capability."
In a statement issued on Friday, Ajmal Qadri, said that the government should not sign the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) without thoroughly pondering over its pros and cons. He said that the present set-up had many more important things to do, so it should keep signing of the treaty in pending and leave it for the next democratically elected government to decide about it.
He urged the government to take immediate steps to free the economy from the curse of interest.
