550 KWSB employees' salaries stopped

KARACHI: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board KWSB has stopped payment of salaries to its 550 employees on the recommendation of Army monitoring team after completing process of interrogation, well-informed sources told PPI on Saturday.

A week-long interrogation process was launched in the KWSB last week to find "ghost employees" absconders, fake appointments and those without valid documents."

Sources said salaries of KWSB staffers have been stopped for different charges. The KWSB administration has given one more chance on humanitarian grounds to these employees to come on duty and complete their documents. It is the last chance for these employees and in case of non-compliance their services will be terminated, they added.

The KWSB governing body has formed a three-member committee to review the proposal of implementation of new medical policy in the board and directed it to finalise report by end of this month.-PPI
