Haris stage demo

HYDERABAD: About 40 haris including women and children, who had earlier escaped from the private jail of zamindar of Tando Allahyar about one and a half month back, staged a demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club here on Friday to protest against the kidnapping of Khuda Bux.

Talking to newsmen, Sattar Nazir, Sarwar, Ghafoor and others accused the landlord Abbas Qaimkhani of having wrongfully confined them in his private jail.

They alleged that a hari woman Hanifa d/o Khuda Bux was also molested they claimed that under orders from the higher authorities, SDM and Mukhtiarkar Tando Allahyar had raided the private jail and recovered 2 rifles, 1 shot gun, 1 revolver and arrested 5 persons.

They, however, said that just in one hour the arrested persons were set free by Piaro Lund police at the intervention of the said zamindar.

They charged that Khuda Bux, father of Hanifa was kidnapped at the instance of the zamindar and her husband and father-in-law were sold out to some other zamindars.

They demanded the recovery of the missing haris and legal action against the zamindar.
