Azim stresses improved sewerage system
KARACHI: Sindh governor Air Marshal Azim Daudpota (Retd) has stressed the need for the formulation of a lasting cleanliness and sewerage system in Sindh's towns and villages, and said these should be made sustainable along with the cleanliness campaigns.
He issued the directive during his visit to various sectors of North and New Karachi where he reviewed the on-going cleanliness campaign.
The area people highly commended the government measures taken for cleanliness, and also informed the governor about other problems of the area.
The governor called for participation of commissioner and concerned officials in the efforts for solution of outlying problems. He said all civic agencies should work with mutual coordination and in an organised manner for attainment of desired results.
On the occasion, commissioner Shafiqur Rehman Paracha and administrator, DMC Central, Mohammed Hussain Syed, briefed the governor about cleanliness drive and said that besides usual cleaning work, the storm water drains are also being cleaned.
The chairman of governor's inspection team Brig Nasir informed the governor that the on-going cleanliness and drain cleaning work was a greater achievement than "Bhal Safai" as it is going to cast far reaching effects on the city's cleanliness conditions.
Governor appreciated the efforts of Brig Nasir and other staff engaged in the drive, and hoped that it would prove a starting point for the revival of work culture in the municipal staff. APP
