Armed imposter held at Lahore airport

LAHORE: The Airport Security Force (ASF) officials on Friday arrested a man in a customs inspector's uniform and recovered an automatic pistol from him.

Identified as Rana Aslam, he was later handed over to the Military Intelligence for interrogations.

Rana, along with two other accomplices, came to the airport in a car. After parking the vehicle in the Executive Lounge parking lot, he was proceeding towards the lounge, when, on suspicion, the ASF officials stopped him outside the lounge. On body search, an automatic pistol was recovered from his possession.

Officials of an intelligence agency said that the accused had come to the airport with the intention of 'hijacking a plane.' However, this claim could not be confirmed from other sources.
