Agha Khomeini calls on CE
ISLAMABAD: Syed Hasan Agha Khomeini, grandson of founder of Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini, who is currently visiting Pakistan, called on Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf here on Thursday evening.
Welcoming the Iranian dignitary, the Chief Executive Gen. Pervez Musharraf said that his visit would go a long way in further strengthening the long-standing historical, cultural and religious bonds shared by the two brotherly Muslim countries.
The Chief Executive emphasised that economic ties between the two brotherly Islamic countries should be further cemented.
The Chief Executive said that Pakistan and Iran had a key role to play in uniting the Ummah and in the projection of Islam in its true perspective, as it is a religion of peace.
He appreciated Iran's unflinching support to Pakistan particularly on the Kashmir issu.e
Syed Hassan Agha Khomeini, reciprocating the good wishes of the Chief Executive, said that Iran as Chairman of OIC is deeply concerned about the problems being faced by the Muslim Ummah in various parts of the world including Kashmir and would play its role in trying to resolve these issues.
Also present on the occasion were Federal Minister Abdul Malik Kasi and members of Iranian delegation, Ayatollah Sayed Mohammad Mousavi Bojnourdi, Syed Raza (Yasser) Mostafavi Khomeini, Moulana Ishaq Madni, Syed Mohammd Hashami and DG Foreign Affairs of Iran Jalaluddin Nameni.
Iranian Ambassador Syed Sarajeddin Moussavi and Minister Counsellor in Iranian Embassy Jalal Kalantari were also present.
Later, the Chief Executive hosted a dinner in honour of the Iranian dignitaries and his delegation.
The dinner was also attended by members of National Security Council and Cabinet and senior military and civil officers. APP
