KARACHI: Siemens and EnBW (Energie Baden-Wurttemberg AG) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to fund a joint-venture to develop and market systems for high-speed data transmission over energy distribution networks, a press release said on Thursday.
The MoU between the two companies is intended to give further impetus to the development of powerline communication (PLC) technology and to start making practical use of the facility when developed.
The companies have assessed the future market opportunities of the PLC technology as excellent. They want to speed up its introduction onto market by combining En BW's comprehensive operating experience with Siemens powerful systems development skills.

He said, "EnBW and Siemens joining forces in the PLC technology area produces the largest alliance to date in powerline technology."
EnBW board member, Dr. Hartmut Bilger said, "In Siemens we have a strong and committed partner by our side with whom we have already enjoyed many decades of outstanding cooperation in many areas of energy and communication technology."
