Fake drugs: medical stores sealed

THATTA: Government medical stores located at the District Health Officer's office and Government Hospital Gharo respectively were sealed following detection of large quantity of low quality, expired and fake drugs by an inspection team here the other day.

The special team led by Director Provincial, Ombudsman office, Sanaullah Qureshi visited the DHO office and found many of the stored drugs with expired dates and some even with no attached information of the components. These were immediately sent for assessment at the laboratory, while the two stores were sealed.

The action was initiated by the government following large-scale complaints about availability of fake, un-registered and hazardous drugs by government hospitals and health centres in different parts of the province. APP
