Indian provocations may lead to N-war: AJK PM
ISLAMABAD: The AJK Prime Minister, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, on Monday said Indian provocations on the ceasefire line may lead to the outbreak of a nuclear war in this region.
Addressing a high-level meeting at the Kashmir House, he said that the Indian forces had targetted the civilian population in defiance of all established international laws in order to create harassment in areas close to the ceasefire line. But he stated that the people of liberated region could not be demoralised through such heinous tactics nor could they be deterred through fascist means.
"The people of Azad Kashmir are practically contributing to the liberation movement and they could not be kept aloof from the struggle," he added.
He called upon the international community particularly the United Nations to take strong exception to the Indian shelling on the civilian population in border areas in interest of peace and security of the region.
He called on the UN Secretary General Kofti Annan to increase number of UN observers on the ceasefire line to correctly monitor the situation. ''Tension in the region cannot come to an end until and unless the international community fulfils its obligations and peacefully resolves the long-standing Kashmir conflict," he added.-PPI
