IMF funding to resume shortly, says Shaukat

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday said he is hopeful that IMF funding to Pakistan would resume shortly.

An IMF mission is presently in Pakistan looking at the fiscal situation and all the numbers and reporting requirements, he told CNN from Davos, Switzerland where the minister is attending the meeting of World Economic Forum.

He added, after they (IMF Mission) go back to Washington, a full mission is expected to come.

The minister said that he has met IMF officials in Davos also and there seems to be satisfaction at the progress made by the government.

He said foreign investors are pleased with the current set up because we are pursuing (economic) policies which make sense.

The government, he added, is looking at various incentives to facilitate investors. APP
