Gen Ghafoor made ambassador to Uzbekistan

ISLAMABAD: The Government announced the appointment of Gen Fazal Ghafoor (Retd), presently serving as Ambassador of Pakistan to North Korea, as Ambassador to Uzbekistan.

He commissioned in Pakistan Army in 1946. Promoted to the rank of Brigadier in 1985 and Major General in 1991.

Held important command, instructional and staff appointments in the Pakistan Army. Served to full tenures as Brigade Commander and another as Force Commander, Northern Areas. Also served as Inspector General Frontier Corps, NWFP.

Did graduation from the Staff College, Quetta and received M.Sc degree in the Defence and Strategic Studies from the National Defence College, Islamabad was retired from the Army in August 1997.

He has been working as Ambassador of Pakistan to North Korea since October 1998. APP
