Customs collect Rs 570 m in Jan

LAHORE: The Collectorate of Customs (Appraisement), Lahore, has collected Rs 570 million during the first month of the year 2000 against the target set at Rs 457.25 million by the Central Board of Revenue.

According to a spokesman of the Collectorate, the collection showed an increase of Rs 112.75 million which comes to about 25 percent.

The collection also shows an increase of Rs 214.04 million or 60 percent in the corresponding period last year, which was Rs 355.96 million.

The collection of customs duties during July 1999-January 2000 stood at Rs 4,103 million against the collection of Rs 3,393 million during the same period the pervious year, showing an increase of Rs 710 million or 21 percent.

A target of Rs 3,702.25 million was allocated to the Collectorate for the period of July 1999-January 2000, whereas the Collectorate has not only achieved the assigned target but also surpassed the same by Rs 400.75 million.
