ISLAMABAD
The rupee did not observe significant fluctuation against the dollar in the currency exchange establishments of Islamabad-Rawalpindi on Monday.
The markets commenced the week with a stagnant greenback at Rs 53.95 as compared to Saturday's same rate. The rupee remained glued to its morning levels and was sold at Rs 54.05.
Dealers said that market started the day with a better note following buying and selling in greenback and other favourite currencies. The overall volume slightly contracted in the second session and the market finally closed on a moderate note.
They said firmness of the rupee has been clearly evident from the unchanged value for the last many sessions.
Pound sterling opened at Rs 87.85 as compared to last value of Rs 87.60. British currency moved within the range of Rs 87.85 and Rs 87.90 and was sold at Rs 88.10.
UAE dirham was bought and sold at Rs 14.76 and Rs 14.79 respectively.
The Saudi currency started the day at Rs 14.41 and was sold at Rs 14.45.
German mark was bought at Rs 27.15 as compared at Saturday's rate of Rs 26.90. Mark moved in a narrow band was sold at Rs 27.30.
Rawalpindi currency market portrayed a dull picture throughout the day. The market opened on a dull note and remained in minus territory in both the sessions, dealers said.
Dollar and pound were bought and sold at the same rate of Islamabad.
