'Pak-China trade
disputes to be
settle on priority'
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Pakistan China Business Council has decided that trade disputes between the two countries would be resolved on priority basis.
This was stated by the Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and leader of the delegation, to the joint council meetings, Ma Yue, while talking to newsmen at a meeting with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday.
He said that the meeting noted that there was decline in trade between the two countries but there was an increase in smuggling of goods across the borders. The meeting emphasised the need for adopting strict measures to curb smuggling and devise ways to promote legal trade.
Ma said that the meeting also decided to tap new areas for increase in two way trade and exchange of trade delegations of Pakistan and China at least once in a year.
Earlier welcoming the guests, Amjad Rafi, the President of KCCI, said that CCPIT which, like Pakistan Board of Investment, was authorised to deal with the foreign investment and had the experience of setting up a large number of joint-ventures abroad, should avail of the existing opportunities in Pakistan.
