PNSC directed
to cut admin
expenditures

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Communications Lt. Gen. Iftikhar Hussain Shah, has asked the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation to continue determined efforts for cutting administrative expenditures by reducing surplus manpower.
The minister who paid his first-ever visit to the PNSC after assuming charge of the ministry advised the PNSC management to ensure that the future plans must have performance indicators and must achieve targets. An all out earnest input was required by the officers and staff in order to re-shape the PNSC as an efficient and profit earning corporation, he added.
According to a press release, a detailed presentation covering role, capabilities and development plan was given by the Executive Director, Special Projects and Planning, at the PNSC headquarters. The minister was informed that the PNSC was earnestly undertaking implementation of the directives received from the Cabinet's Committee on Ports and Shipping. The Government orders for reconstitution of the Board of Directors had already been implemented
The minister was further informed that plans for rightsizing the manpower, joint ventures, induction of ships, formulation of future development schemes and steps for reduction in expenditure and boosting the income were discussed in detail.
On arrival at the PNSC headquarter on Monday, the minister was received by the Chairman of the PNSC Vice Admiral A. U. Khan.
