DERA GHAZI KHAN: Anti corruption police DG Khan registered a case against Kot Chutta patwari Mohammad Irfan on charge of transferring by fraud and forgery Auqaf land of Babar Noor Shah Ghazi in the name of one Khalid Mahmood. Police also booked patwari Hussain Bakhsh and girdawar Mohammad Rafi of Taunsa on charge of receiving Rs 15,000 bribe from a farmer Mohammad Hanif for correcting the revenue record of his land. They did not do the needful, nor did they return the money. Investigation is in progress.ÑAPP

Seminar on drug addiction

QUETTA: A walk and a seminar will be held at Sibi on April 5 and 6 respectively to create awareness about drug menace. Anti Narcotics Force Balochistan has arranged the walk and seminar in collaboration with Sangat Arts and Welfare Society and Rahbar Welfare society. The walk will commence at 830 am on April 5 from Government High School Sibi and terminate at Municipal Committee Hall. The theme of the seminar is "Role of Society in Prevention of drug abuse".ÑAPP

Trader robbed

SHEHDADPUR: Three unidentified armed persons broke into the house of a local trader Sulaiman and looted gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 250,000 here on Sunday night. According to the details, while after the Walima ceremony of Sulaiman's son, family members were busy in counting the gifts received in cash, three armed bandits entered the house and after making them hostage, looted dowry worth Rs 250,000 and fled away.ÑPPI

Seminar on hand-knotted carpets

KARACHI: Minister of State and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Chairperson Tariq Ikram would be the chief guest at the seminar on "innovation in design of hand-knotted carpets, its marketing and promotion of exports" on April 5. The seminar is scheduled to be held at Carpet Training Centre, PECHS, Shahrah-e-Faisal and is organised by Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association.ÑPPI

Dadu Canal closure

SUKKUR: Dadu Canal of Sukkur Barrage will remain closed for annual inspection and execution of the necessary maintenance works for a period of one month from April 5. This was officially announced here on Monday by Chief Engineer Sukkur Barrage.ÑAPP

Irrigation water shortage

BADIN: The Badin district is posed to scarcity of irrigation water which may cause damage to the standing crops. According to details since last 3 months, all the canals and water courses had been receiving very small quantity of water, affecting lacs of acres of wheat and sugarcane. This situation has also forced the growers of the district to avoid from sowing rice. The Golarchi sub-division is the worse hit area. The affected water courses included Surhari course, Imam wah, Morhre and Blore wah.ÑAPP
