TAC on GST

KARACHI: Central Board of Revenue (CBR) showing its keen interest in some workable system for collection of General Sales Tax (GST) and Income Tax from the traders, invited proposals from the Karachi Tajir Action Committee.

According to the convenor of the committee, Imran Saeed Baghpati some officials from the CBR as well as the local income tax officials have contacted him and asked him to submit his proposals about the GST and income tax.

Baghpati said "I have sent the summary of the proposals to the officials whereas the detailed booklet will be mailed to them on Tuesday", he told APP here on Monday.

He said that he had developed a consensus among the traders on a system which can help the government collect Rs 10.4 billion from income tax and sales tax.

He added that the system will also help document the economy gradually without creating fears and unrest in the traders and retailers if his "system" is enforced with all conditionalities comprising exemptions and credibility etc.ÑAPP
