Ayub Park to be converted into theme park
RAWALPINDI: The government is actively considering to undertake an ambitious plan for the uplift of famous Ayub Park to transform it into a theme park by enhancing its beautification and creating modern recreational facilities for the general public.
According to official sources the gigantic project is passing through various preliminary stages and as soon as the feasibility report is finalised the practical work would get under way.
The Army Heritage Foundation has been assigned the task to carry out all the necessary spade work to make the park spreading over 349 acres a disciplined and purposeful place for the joy seekers, the sources added.
The present position of the park would not be affected under the new arrangements and it would remain a public park and entry for the general public would be free of cost.
The decision with regard to upgradation of the Park has been taken with a view to provide better recreational facilities particularly for the middle and lower middle classes of the society because the rich had the resources to avail such facilities while visiting abroad.
A survey for proper utilisation of the Park is being conducted by the concerned department so as to convert it into a theme park on the pattern of Disney land to provide entertainment for the general public and this project is likely to take over three years time for completion, the sources added.
Besides setting up of Army Heritage Center and Army Museum a number of theme parks having different attractions including food, plays and games would also be established for the people of all ages.
While despelling the impression of taking over the park by the Army, the sources said that position of the park as a public park would not affect, rather it would be properly renovated utilising its large space and beautiful locations.ÑAPP
