HYDERABAD: The University of Sindh, Jamshoro, in collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC), Islamabad, is organising a 10-day English language teaching course for inservice College Teachers from April 3, 2000.

About 30 teachers from different colleges will attend the training workshop.

The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Dr. Rashid A. Shah will inaugurate the course on April 3, 2000. The inaugural ceremony will be held at Pir Hisamuddin Rashid Auditorium, Institute of Sindhiology at 09.30 a.m.

The training activity is aimed at providing an opportunity to working teachers, especially female teachers, to get professional training free of cost at their door step.

The components of this short term course will include phometic teaching of vocabulary, correction of written work, teaching of English language, literature in language, teachers training/teacher's development, audio visual aids in language teaching and adaption of text-books, besides other skills.

The University Grants Commission has already organised 22 such courses in Islamabad, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Jamshoro, Karachi and Quetta.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Study Centre, University of Sindh in collaboration with FRK Enterprise is organising a 3-day training programme on office correspondence and communication skills from April 3, 2000.

The workshop will be attended by the officials from different educational institutions and organisations.

The Department of Sociology, University of Sindh is organising a series of lecture, for the candidates who are registered for M.Phil programme in faculty of social sciences, University of Sindh.

In this connection first lecture will be delivered by Dr. Allah Rakhio Butt, Chairman department of library and information sciences on April 5, the topic of his lecture will be use of library in research.

Prof. Allah Wassayo Rajar will preside over the lecture.
