International moot on GIS begins on 5th
KARACHI: A three-day international conference on Geographic Information System (GIS) is being held at Aerospace Institute of Suparco, Islamabad from April 5 to 7 in collaboration with Pakistan Society of Geographic Information Systems (PSGIS).
The conference will have seven technical sessions and deliberate on resources management and environmental planning, public health education and social sector, information technology, good governance, sustainable development through use of Satellite Remote Sensing and geographic information systems.
The technical sessions are to be chaired by Chief Executive's Adviser on Media and Information Javed Jabbar and Federal Ministers Omer Asghar Khan, Dr. Abdul Malik Kasi and Dr. Ijaz H. Khawaja, Director General Pakistan Computer Bureau, Lt. Gen. Syed Shujaat Hussain, NUST Rector Dr. S.M. Qureshi, Pakistan Council of Science and Technology Chairman Javed Masud, Ministry of Science and Technology Secretary besides Suparco Chairman Dr. Abdul Majid.
The Minister for Science and Technology Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman will be the chief guest and inaugurate the conference while for concluding session, Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz will be the chief guest.
The conference is the second in a series of international conferences on GIS and is titled "GIS in New Millennium. APP
