to cut

up to 1,000 jobs

LONDON: BBC General Director Greg Dyke is expected to announce Monday a 1,000 job-cut as part of major restructuring of the British public television network, the British press reported Saturday.

Most of the jobs cut would be in management in line with Dyke's desire to trim the weight of administration, the media magazine Broadcast said.

Recently-appointed Dyke will announce his plans at an employee meeting Monday at 10:00 a.m. local time (0900 GMT).

The BBC employs some 23,000 people and operates with a budget of 2.8 billion pound sterling (4.48 billion euros).ÑAFP
