Azim stresses need
for training police
on professional lines
KARACHI: Sindh Governor Air Marshal Azim Daudpota (Retd), has underlined the need for training of all police personnel on professional lines.
He said that instead of making the untrained police personnel to wait for long term training courses, short term courses be initiated for their professional training.
He was talking to police officers at Razaqabad Police Training Centre at a briefing on police matters besides witnessing various phases of training and participating in the "bara khana."
The "bara khana" was arranged for the police contingent which had participated in Pakistan Day parade on March 23.
Also present on the occasion were Sindh Law Minister barrister Shahida Jamil, Chief Secretary Zubair Kidwai, IGP Aftab Nabi, Home Secretary Nisar Siddiqi, Commissioner Karachi Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, all DIGs of Sindh, senior police officers in Karachi besides some notables.
The governor made it clear that ultimately the police have to take on the share of its responsibilities. Therefore, after undergoing higher training, the passing out personnel must share those responsibilities of the Rangers which they are performing under obtaining conditions.
He pointed out that only personnel who are trained and sincere to profession, can bring a good name to the department and make it stand on its feet with able discharge of their due responsibilities.
He approved an ad hoc increase of Rs 200 per month in the salary of those who obtained training for Elite Force. He also announced a reward of Rs 1,000 for each member of police contingent who participated in Pakistan Day parade.
He was informed that despite announcement by the previous government the young people who underwent training for Elite Force were not paid the promised allowance. Promising to look into the matter, he announced the ad hoc relief.
Appreciating the standard of training, he said these personnel should have a reflection of the training imparted to them in their normal life as well as at police stations.
Paying tributes to police personnel martyred during the discharge of their different responsibilities, he prayed for their eternal rest.
He said he was proud of police personnel who maintained law and order and provided due facilities to people.
He hoped the police officers and jawans will spare no stone unturned for maintaining a congenial law and order situation and eliminating the crimes.
Shahida Jamil said on the occasion that sisters and mothers of Sindh pay their tributes to Shaheed Jawans and feel proud of them.
Earlier the IGP welcomed the governor and briefed him on police problems.
