in Kashmir

CAIRO: Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf on Monday drew the attention of Arab League towards Indian forces' gross human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Musharraf briefed the Secretary-General of Arab League, Dr Esmet Abdel Meguid, about the situation in South Asia, with particular reference to Kashmir dispute.

He said the Kashmiris are being subjected to worst human rights violations as they struggle for their UN-accepted right to self-determination.

The Secretary General said that Arab League understands that "Kashmiris have launched a freedom struggle and that it is not a terrorist movement".

The meeting also discussed India-Israel military collaboration. The Secretary-General expressed concern over India-Israel military cooperation.

The meeting also focused on the cooperation between the Organisation of Islamic Conference and the Arab League.

The meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere.

Earlier, the Secretary-General warmly received the Chief Executive when he arrived at the Arab League Headquarters.ÑAPP
