Gas connections

to industries

planning to

generate own

power

RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: The Government will provide gas connections to all industries planning to generate power for their operations. It will direct the SSGC to provide 15 mmcfd gas connections on all applications pending with the department.

This assurance was given by the Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Mian Usman Aminuddin to an FPCCI delegation which called on him during the Minister's recent visit to Karachi. The delegation consisted of Dr. Ikhtiar Baig, Chairman of FPCCI standing committee on utilities, and Bilal Mulla Member, Managing Committee of FPCCI.

Talking to the delegation Mian Usman said that the SSGC had been authorised to sanction gas connections for self-power generation and under the directive there was absolutely no need to refer these cases to the ministry in Islamabad.

He said that the Government was giving top priority to the development of oil and gas sector and invited the private sector to come forward and invest in the sector.

Dr. Baig assured the minister that he would mobilise the potential investors to invest in the gas pipeline projects provided the investment and its return were legally protected by the government.
