Pakistan seeks Turkish help in communication sector

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's communication sector offers tremendous opportunity for the foreign investment as the present leadership is taking unusual steps for the economic development specially for the development of the communication sector.

This was stated by Communication Minister Lt Gen Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah (Retd) while talking to the visiting Turkish Minister of State and Pakistan-Turkey Joint Ministerial Commission Chairman Abdulhaluq M Cay who called on him here on Saturday.

He said the Turkish construction companies were actively working on the construction of roads and Expressway in Pakistan and expressed the hope that bilateral trade between the two countries would further grow under the plateform of the ECO.

The meeting which was also attended by Communication Secretary Dr Mohammad Akram Sheikh, the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan and National Highway Authority Chairman Maj Gen Waqar-ul-Haq Khalid (Retd). The meeting discussed matters to further increase bilateral cooperation in economic and communication fields.

The minister said that history of bilateral relations between the two countries spanned over centuries and are going with passage of time, adding peoples of the two countries share deep existing religious, cultural and political values.

Speaking on the occasion, the Turkish Minister said that his country would take all possible steps to share Pakistan's efforts for the development of its communication sector.

He also expressed his hope that bilateral cooperation between the two countries would grow multifold under the banner of ECO and assured all possible cooperation of Turkish government to complete the development projects in Pakistan.

The Turkish Minister expressed his satisfaction with the practical steps being taken by Pakistan's present leadership for infrastructural development in the country. PPI
