Pak-Turkey cooperation to communication sector discussed

ISLAMABAD: A six-member Turkish delegation headed by Minister of State for Trade Abdul Halik M Cay called on the Minister for Communication Lt Gen Iftikhar Hussain Shah (Retd) and exchanged views on matters of bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

Welcoming the delegation the communication minister said Pakistan and Turkey have been enjoying historic brotherly relations bolstering day-by-day.

During the meeting, Lt Gen Iftikhar (Retd) called for further enhancing economic ties between the two countries besides discussing the possibilities to promote cooperation in communication and economic sector.

The communication minister said the government is making concerted efforts for the rapid development of communication sector enabling the country to face the challenges of 21st century in a befitting manner.

He said there is a vast scope of foreign investment in this sector in the country and hoped local and foreign investors would benefit from the attracting investment opportunities.

Expressing gratitude for warm welcome and hospitality in Pakistan, Turkish minister said his country will extend every possible cooperation to Pakistan in communication sector and completion of other development projects.

He said economic cooperation between both the countries can further magnify from the ECO platform.

Turkish minister expressed satisfaction over the practical measures of the present government towards developing basic infrastructure.

Secretary Communication, Akram Sheikh, Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ali Baral Aktam and Chairman National Highway Authority, Maj Gen Viqarul Haq Khalid (Retd) were also present during the meeting. APP
