Muharram procession Ambushed in Srinagar

ISLAMABAD: Indian army and police personnel on Friday resorted to indiscriminate firing, lathi charge, vengeful use of force against the mourners participating in the Muharram procession in Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this barbaric act once again proved India's disdainful attitude towards religious feelings of the Muslims.

The racist Indian government and Farooq Abdullah's puppet regime have imposed an illegal ban on Muharram procession for the last 10 years and the religious sentiments of the Muslim are being suppressed by wanton use of force.

The procession led by hurriyat leader Maulvi Muhammad Abbas Ansari from Lal Chowk, Srinagar, in defiance of all restrictions was ambushed by the Police, Central Reserve Police force and border Security force personnel.

On the one hand, genocidal killing of the Muslims is rampant in the occupied valley and their houses and shops are being burnt and on the other restrictions have been clamped on their religious practices in violation of all norms of morality and decency.

Several mourners were injured during the brutalities unleashed by the forces personnel and they had to be shifted to the various hospitals in the city.

Moulana Abbas Ansari and another 50 persons were arrested and sent to various police stations. Those arrested also include President of Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Muhammad Sofi Hussain and Secretary, Muhammad Sultan Rashid.

Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, in a statement, has strongly condemned this act of the puppet regime in the occupied Kashmir and announced to launch a protest across the valley. It reiterated the resolve to bring out the traditional Zuljinah procession on the 10th of Muharram despite restrictions. APP
