Mixed trend on commodity market

RECORDER REVIEW

KARACHI: Gains and losses were almost the same on the commodity markets during the week ended on Saturday.

Some of the major gainers where gram garda, sugar and milk powder. Losses were marked in tea, til Sindh and superior rice varieties. Among major commodity wheat depicted mixed trend.

Teas were firm but some setback was apparent. Kenyan PF-1 A grade quoted at Rs 218, B grade down by Rs 2 to Rs 204, and C grade up by Rs 2 to Rs 182 but plus C grade was down by Rs 2 to Rs 188. BP-1 A grade up by Rs 2 to Rs 225, B grade conceded Rs 2 to Rs 192. D-1 A grade lost Rs 3 to Rs 219, B grade lost Rs 2 to Rs 210, and plus C grade shed Rs 4 to Rs 190. Bangladesh's Khushbu lost Re 1 to Rs 113 and STD/BOP lost Rs 2 to Rs 117.

Upward trend was marked in milk powder. Skimmed Haleeb rose sharply to be quoted at Rs 2,700, Lithuania up by Rs 100 to Rs 2,600, Poland up by Rs 105 to Rs 2,550, and Dairy Quest gained Rs 200 to Rs 2,925. Full cream instant Blue White quoted at Rs 2,900, Creme up by Rs 5 to Rs 2,585, Five Star, however, conceded Rs 75 to Rs 2,875, Saya Lac rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2,850, Mix Me up by Rs 50 to Rs 2,700, Green Flag up by Rs 25 to Rs 2,625 and Get Mix quoted at Rs 2,650.

Plastic mouldings: Compound HDPE film HDP 952 rose by 75 paisa to Rs 26.75, Korea 3080 up by 65 paisa to Rs 26.75, Mobil up by 75 paisa to Rs 26.75, TR 144 rose by the same amount to Rs 26.75, Asrene up by 75 to Rs 26.75 and 6888 up by the same amount to Rs 26.75. HDPE injection ladene 200056 up by 35 paisa to Rs 26.75, Escorene up by the same amount to Rs 26.75, and Thai dropped Re 1 to Rs 26. HDPE blow 6007 dropped 45 paisa to Rs 27.25, 6400 shed 36 paisa to Rs 27, Mobil conceded 50 paisa to Rs 27 and 5202 retreated by 10 paisa to Rs 27. LDPE Cosmos Thene 4100 down by 50 paisa to Rs 27.50, Thai conceded 75 paisa to Rs 27.25, Korea shed 50 paisa to Rs 27 and Lotrene 0374 up by 25 paisa to Rs 27.75. LLDPE W118 ladene gained 25 paisa to Rs 27.25, Escorene down by 50 paisa to Rs 25.50. Delim dropped 75 paisa to Rs 25.25 and 7087 lost the same amount to Rs 25.25. Polypropylene tape grade Delim rose by 87 paisa to Rs 22, Yuplene up by 25 paisa to Rs 22, Thai up by the same amount to Rs 22 and Saudia up by 25 paisa to Rs 22.

Polypropylene injection grade Saudia up by 88 paisa to Rs 22, Yuplene up by the same amount to Rs 22, Delim up by 25 paisa to Rs 22 and Hanwa up by 88 paisa to Rs 22. Polystyrene high impact Polyrex PH88 up by Re 1 to Rs 37, MC 59 rose by 50 paisa to Rs 36.50, and Saudia gained 50 paisa to Rs 36.50. Polystyrene GP Saudia dropped Rs 15 to Rs 1,825, Pakistan quoted at Rs 1,720 and Dow shed Rs 15 to Rs 1,800. ABS Polylac quoted up at Rs 2,450 and Toyalac rose by Rs 200 to Rs 2,400.

A few changes transpired in Kirana item such as black pepper from Vietnam, rose by Rs 500 to Rs 14,500, the same items from Ceylon up by Rs 300 to Rs 14,000, mace dropped Rs 800 to Rs 30,000, small cardamom from Tanzania up sharply around Rs 800 to Rs 30,000, big cardamom rose by Rs 1,000 to Rs 19,500, dry ginger from India turned higher by Rs 400 to Rs 2,600 and Isbaghol-ki-bhoosi up by Rs 300 to Rs 8,300.

Elsewhere gram garda inferior type rose by Rs 75 to Rs 1,830 and better type up was quoted higher at Rs 1,870, dal yellow peas rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1,325 and Rs 1,360, yellow peas inferior lost Rs 5 to Rs 1,200 and better type retreated by Rs 25 to Rs 1,225, dal beetle 50-50 inferior rose by Rs 35 to Rs 1,925 and better type up Rs 50 to Rs 1,935, beetle one inferior rose by Rs 65 to Rs 2,000 and better type up by Rs 70 to Rs 2,040. Gram dal beetle inferior rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2,350 and better type up by the same amount to Rs 2,400, til Sindh inferior lost Rs 25 to Rs 1,225 and Rs 1,250.

Cotton cakes lost Rs 5 to Rs 360 and Rs 365, wheat was revised more than once and inferior type gained Rs 10 but lost Rs 20 to close at Rs 810 to Rs 820, Irri-9 Sindh new inferior type lost Rs 25 to Rs 875 and fine type up Rs 50 to Rs 925, Irri-6 Sindh new type shed Rs 25 to Rs 725, Sela karnal rose by Rs 25 but later inferior lost Rs 25 to Rs 2,225 and better type lost Rs 100 to Rs 2,500, Sela basmati better type lost Rs 50 to Rs 1,850.

Rapeseed cakes lost Rs 2 to Rs 310, masoor imported better type lost Rs 50 to Rs 2,250, Masoor dal imported lost Rs 50 to Rs 2,600, sugar inferior type rose sharply by Rs 95 to Rs 2,110 while better type was quoted at Rs 2,000. Moong Punjab low type gained Rs 12 to Rs 1,812 though better type lost Rs 60 to Rs 1,815, tuver from Burma higher at Rs 1,150 and Rs 1,175, rapeseed Dadu shed Rs 5 to Rs 470 and Rs 480, Mirpur lost the same amount to Rs 515 and Rs 525.
