Messages of President, CE Follow Hazrat Imam Hussain's example

ISLAMABAD: President Rafiq Tarar has called upon the countrymen to render every sacrifice for the cause of Islam and defence of the country and keeping them always dearest.

In a message on Ashura, the President said on Sunday we must pledge to create unity and fraternity among ourselves following the footprints of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

The message of the President Rafiq Tarar reads: "The day of Ashura is the sacred and most revered in the history of Islam. It was the day, when Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his near and dear ones rendered the greatest ever sacrifice and revived the noble example of offering supreme sacrifice for the sake of truth. This sacrifice revives the concept of eternity for those, who render their lives for upholding truth.

Today humanity is standing on the crossroad. The onslaught of western civilisation has created a challenge to the brighter values of human society. Materialism and scientific progress has contained the human thoughts in the close circle of interests. Humanity is longing for spiritual and mental satisfaction, the abundance of modern science and technological invention notwithstanding. The tradition of giving sacrifices for higher principles and ideology is waning. The oppression and repression of imperialism is on the climax and they have left the freedom seekers at the mercy of circumstances.

In the existing situation it is incumbent on the Muslims to strictly abide by the tenets of Islam and convey this message of peace, friendship and brotherhood to rest of the humanity too, and also revive the principle of rendering sacrifice for cause of truth.

Today we must pledge to create unity and fraternity among ourselves as enshrined in the pristine principles of Islam and follow the footprints of Imam Hussain. It is same principle which was taught by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and by adopting which the "Sahaba" and Imam Hussain and his companions rendered great sacrifices in Karbala.

Let us pledge today that we will render every sacrifice for the cause of Islam and defence of our country and will always keep them dearest".

Chief Executive

Chief Executive Gen Pervez Musharraf appealed the nation to put aside all linguistic, sectarian and regional differences and interests to serve the country unitedly.

"It is the need of the hour and, in it, lies our survival, "said the Chief Executive in his message on the auspicious occasion of Muharram.

"Today is 10th Muharrum which reminds us of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). This incident indicates that when Islamic values and principles are trampled, their protection becomes obligatory. One has to grid up one's lion, the way the grand son of the last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) did, to safeguard these principles. He presented an example one can take pride, by following the tradition of the last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

The purpose of great sacrifice by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) was nothing else, but no promote the religion of truth, maintain greatness of Islam and secure the Will of God.

Gen Musharraf said the people should not forget on this auspicious occasion that Pakistan came into being in the name of Allah and His Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) for realisation of the same objectives, for which, his family offered immortal sacrifice 1400 years ago. APP
