Leghari urges US to review its policy on Kashmir issue
ISLAMABAD: Chief of Millat Party Farooq Khan Leghari has feared a conspiracy to nullify and paralyse country's nuclear programme and observed that Pakistan is being isolated under a pre-conceived plan.
In a panel interview with the PPI on Saturday he said efforts are under way to impose limited war on Pakistan or teach a lesson to it by some other means.
Without naming the plotters, he said there are clear indications that efforts are under way to push the state to an embarrassing situation and cause a fatal harm to it.
He said there is a need for a thorough review of the security situation adding that the government must consult patriotic people in view of the difficulties being faced by the country. He said it is also the time to ponder for other patriotic forces and the people having serious approach.
Leghari said this should also be kept in mind that Pakistan has a hostile neighbour whose leadership is currently in the hands of fanatics. He slated the Indian leaders for hurling threats of nuclear strike and limited war on Pakistan and deplored that the US President Bill Clinton during his visit to South Asia over-looked the orgy of death and destruction, but chose to accuse that there are elements within the Government of Pakistan which support terrorism in Kashmir.
He said the US President before coming to the region said he is going to reduce the tension, but tension heightened after his visit. He urged the United States to review its policy towards Kashmir which is a dangerous nuclear flash-point and use its good offices to bring down the escalating tension and stave off a war between the two South Asian nuclear powers.
He said it is unjust to praise those following the policy of war-mongering and condemn the ones who are ready to hold talks with India anywhere, any time at any level. He said if the situation continues, it would amount to encouraging the enemy.
He also referred to the drama staged by RAW in Occupied Kashmir by burning 35 Sikhs to death. He said it was amazing to see the international media issuing a decree against Muslim Mujahideen.
He regretted that the US President did not utter a single world about the presence of 700,000 Indian occupation troops committing blatant violations of human rights. PPI
