Karbala symbol of supreme sacrifice: Daudpota
KARACHI: The martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain and the martyrs of Karbala will reverberate throughout human history as a symbol of defence against the usurpers and supreme sacrifice for principles, said Sindh Governor Azim Daudpota in his message on Ashura.
The echo of the tragedy of Karbala is being deeply felt by the Muslim Ummah, right from Morocco to the distant Indonesian islands, he said adding that the entire Muslim Ummah today is bowing down with respect and sadness, which the tragedy of Karbala represents.
"This grief is, however, the culmination of the triumph of human spirits against very heavy odds," the governor observed.
He said it was Hazrat Imam Hussain and not his killer, who was the victor, because victory belongs to him whose name remains untarnished and whose indomitable courage was so visible genuinely on the battlefield of Karbala.
The governor said it was indeed one of the saddest incidents that the infant, who was held in the arms of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) slain at the behest of Yazid, the tyrannical assassin.
The disgraceful and barbaric massacre that took place in Karbala is not known in history; and those who perpetrated that horrendous genocide will forever be condemned.
The governor stressing to salute and honour the memory of Hazrat Imam Hussain and the martyrs of Karbala said the highest tributes one can pay is to remain united as Muslims, and as such his remembrance should not lead to any malice or conflict between one Muslim brother and the other.
It must go on sincerely into utmost tolerance and respect for one another, while grieving for those who laid down their lives rather than get subdued by injustice and cruelty and total lack of principles, he said. APP
