ICCI seeks review on tax amnesty scheme

ISLAMABAD: Waqar Aslam Hamdi, President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has urged the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to reconsider the provisions included in the tax amnesty scheme.

In a press statement the ICCI chief has maintained that the scheme is too complicated and it forces the tax payers to mention those information and data which do not seem to be relevant.

He said the CBR should devise a simple one-page form for declaring the face value of their assets and the amnesty scheme should focus on the facilitation to the taxpayers and not the creation of complication.

Unnecessary and harsh conditions included in the scheme would discourage people to avail the amnesty for hidden assets, hamdi said.
