4-day moot on

technology and

development

KARACHI: An international conference on the topic of technology and development in the new millennium will commence at a hotel here from April 24.

The four-day moot is being jointly organised by Karachi University and the Britain-based Science Technology and Development Forum (STD).

The conference is being co-sponsored by the Third World Academy of Sciences, Italy; Developing Countries Research Unit and European Technology Development UK; Swedish International Development Agency and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) besides Pakistan Science Foundation, University Grants Commission and Pakistan Atomic Energy Research Council.

It will be attended by over 100 delegates including 40 from Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America and the Pacific. The moot will spread over eight technical sessions.

The conference will primarily cover crucial issues such as the women in technology and development, intermediate technologies and community development, technology policy, technology and development issues, renewable and small scale energies, food and agriculture and role of new technologies in development.ÑAPP
