Govt orders sugar availability at Rs 20 a kilo

ISLAMABAD: The Federal government has directed the provinces to check unnecessary increase in the prices of sugar and ensure its supply at around Rs 20 per kg at retail.

The Prices and Supply Wing of the Ministry of Production and Industries has observed that the prices of sugar are being increased through short supply of the commodity by mills, in spite of the fact there was no its shortage in the country.

The wing has directed the provincial administration to check the stocks of the sugar and advise the mill owners to bring down prices of the commodity as early as possible.
