MULTAN: Askari Commercial Bank has earned pre-tax profit of Rs 712.446 million and net profit Rs 430 million, said Bank Area Chief Shaukat Ali while talking to newsmen here on Monday.

He said the Askari Bank had invested Rs 871.783 million in fuel and energy sector, Rs 4.250.316 million in textile exports, Rs 494.664 million in pharmaceuticals, Rs 443.4 million in Agri-business, Rs 420.452 in automobiles and Rs 661.792 million in leather products and shoes.

He said the Askari Bank had advanced loans of Rs 13,594.226 million during the year of Rs 10,478 million in local currency and Rs 3115 million in foreign currency.

Shoukat further said that the Bank was interlinked with ATM by providing this facility in 28 branch while 20 are on line.

Gulzar Hussain, chief manager, Multan said that the Askari Bank was the finalist in the Asian Banking Awards, 1999 sponsored jointly by the Asian Bankers Association. The association of Development Finance Institutions in Asian and the pacific regions and DHL Worldwide express during the Asia Pacific Bankers Congress 1999, the Askari Bank was the only Pakistani bank among other international banks to be awarded a certificate in category of "fund sourcing products.
