APHC team prevented from going to Geneva
ISLAMABAD: A four-member team of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, proceeding to Geneva to take part in the United Nations Human Rights Commission's session was stopped at New Delhi airport.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the airport authorities told the team that they were under orders not to allow any member of the APHC to go abroad. The team was kept under arrest for one hour and passports of the team members were confiscated. The team included Abdul Majeed Banday, Mohammad Amin Butt Advocate, Abdur Rashid Lone and Raja Muhammad Tufail advocate.
Strongly reacting against this action, the information secretary of APHC, Shiekh Abdul Rashid said, it was an unavailing attempt to cover up the world human rights organisations to raise their voice against prevention of the APHC team from going to Geneva for apprising the UN Human Rights Commission about the grave situation in occupied Kashmir. The prevention of the team itself, the spokesman emphasised, spoke volumes fo the fact that occupied Kashmir stood deprived of all basic human rights, including the right to freedom of movement.
He pointed out that murder of the released youth and religious personalities by the Indian troops was part of this genocidal plan. In this context, he referred to the collective murder of Sikhs at Chattisinghpora, killing of five innocent people in fake encounter at Pathribal and massacre of peaceful demonstrators in the suburbs of Islamabad (Anantnag) and other such incidents were aimed at suppressing the Kashmiris' liberation movement.
