FPCCI asks CBR
to amend ST rule
about power bills
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Fazal-ur-Rehman Dittu, President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, has supported the demand of trade bodies for adjustment of sales tax paid on electricity bills and urged CBR to amend the special procedure for collection and payment of sales tax (electric power) rules, 2000 issued by CBR vide SRO 124(1)/2000 dated March 15,2000.
In a statement to the press issued here on Monday, he said that the rules issued by CBR provide that the registered consumers shall be entitled to claim input tax adjustment provided the power bill is in the name of the registered consumer and contains his registration number. As a result the businessmen who are running their factories in rented or leased premises and the electric meters are not in their names are being denied input adjustment.
