Nation's future
is in teachers'
hands: Ms Shaheen
LAHORE: The future of Pakistani nation is in the hands of teachers, they can prepare dedicated, devoted, skilled and educated young generation.
This was observed by the Minister for Social Welfare, Women Development and Literacy Punjab, Ms. Shaheen Atiq-ur-Rehman while addressing prize distribution ceremony of Anjuman-e-Akhwan Islam, Burki, on Sunday.
She said in past students from other countries came to Pakistan for study in our universities but now the standard of education in Pakistan is not up to the mark. The role of teachers is pre-requisite for the development and uplift of the nation and country.
The minister highly appreciated the spirit and dedication of former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Malik Meraj Khalid who set an example in enlightening the area of Burki and adjacent villages by spreading the light of education and work in other social sectors.
She appealed the parents to join hands in educating their children specially daughters. Shaheen told that under the project of "Education For All" schools would be established nearby the homes so the every child of age 5 to 9 years could get education easily.
Former prime minister Malik Meraj Khalid said that ten years back he started the project and had achieved excellent results. He appreciated the working of Shaheen Atiq-ur-Rehman and said that they both are working on the same line and dedication. He said with the passage of time his Anjuman Akhwan-e-Islam has succeeded to get the cooperation and coordination of so many intellectuals women.
Meraj Khalid said he initiated the project with a thinking to set an example and model for the government and private sector but it was petty that no body followed him.
Earlier, Shaheen Atiq-ur-Rehman and Malik Meraj Khalid gave away prizes among the outstanding students and their parents and teachers.ÑAPP
