Sikh Yatrees reaching today
LAHORE: A batch of Sikh Yatrees is reaching here on Monday, April 10 to participate in the Besaiki mela festival. The officials of Evacue Trust Property Board (ETPB) will receive the Yatree at Wahga. The board has adopted elaborate arrangements for the facilitation of Sikh Yatrees. The yatrees will also visit Hassan Abdal.ÑPPI
IT officials to visit LSE
LAHORE: A team of the Income Tax officials, headed by Muneer A. Sheikh, Commissioner Income Tax Company Zone-1 and Qudrat Ullah, Commissioner, Income Tax Company Zone-II is scheduled to visit to Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) on Saturday (April 15). The team will give a detailed presentation on Tax Amnesty Scheme recently introduced by the government and brief the LSE members about the modalities of the said scheme. Later on, an answer-question session would also be held.ÑPPI
Fesco privatisation to start in June
SARGODHA: The process of privatisation of the Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company (Fesco) would start in June 2000. Source revealed that the privatisation process would start after Nepra's permission. Sources disclosed that Fesco assets in Sargodha and Faisalabad were more than Rs 26 billion.ÑPPI
New bridge on Chenab
CHINIOT: Punjab Governor Lt. Gen. Mohammad Safdar (Retd) will inaugurate the new bridge on the river Chenab. The bridge has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 400 million. A special team of the Punjab Works Department will inspect the bridge within the next few days, sources said.ÑPPI
Security tightened
MULTAN: Following the bomb blasts in Lahore, Kasur and Rawalpindi, security measures were tightened in Southern Punjab, district administration has asked the mourners and organisers of Majals-i-Aza and processions to cooperate with the law enforcing agencies in searching their clothes just before entering the venue. District magistrate had asked the security guard deployed at bus, wagon, rickshaw, tonga stands to keep vigilant eye on the suspects and thoroughly check their goods with the help of metal detectors similarly, fool proof security arrangement be made at cinema houses, railway stations to avert any eventuality.ÑPPI
SKMH to hold health programme
LAHORE: The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital is organising a five-day executive health service management programme from Monday, April 10. Tax reforms demanded
PINDI-BHATTIAN: Anjuman Tajran Pindi-Bhattian, President, Zafar Ahmed Sheikh has called upon the government to bring reforms in present complicated taxation system. In a press statement he said that the traders faced great difficulties due to various taxes. The government should merge all the taxes or provide one window taxation facility to the traders, he asserted.ÑPPI

LAHORE: First Women Bank Limited (FWBL) is holding enterprise development courses for women in various fields from April 17 to May 26. FWBL has planned courses in fabric painting from April 17 to 21, flower making from April 24 to 28, flower arrangement from May first to May 5, moulding and casting from May 8 to 12, Port Painting from May 15 to 19 and block printing from May 22 to 26, 2000. Industries banned
MUZAFFARGARH: Punjab government on the report of Environment Protection Agency (EPA), has prohibited the establishing of industries in urban areas, Municipal limits and called a detailed lists of licenced and unlicenced industrial units from Deputy Commissioner. Sources said that all authorised industrial units like brick kilns powerlooms, tanneries, chemicals plants, pesticides packaging, flour mills, red-chillies grinding machines etc, would be shifted outside municipal limits while licenced industries would be binding to modernise their machinery and recycling of heat/smoke emission.ÑPPI
Cases registered against Xen
MUZAFFARGARH: Anti-Corruption Establishment has registered a number of cases against an Executive Engineer and Sub-Division Officer of SCARP-III Kot Addu on the charge of corruption, embezzlement of funds provided for the repair of idle tubewells and deduction from the salaries of tubewell operators. These cases were registered on the complaints of a tubewell operators of Tubewell No. AK-55 Khuda Bakhsh Gurmani, against XEN and SDO.ÑPPI
