Bangladesh tenders for further 25,000 T sugar

DHAKA: State-owned Sugar and Food Industries Corporation of Bangladesh on Sunday held an import tender for a further 25,000 tonnes of white sugar with bidders quoting prices between $229.79 and $241.70 per tonne C&F basis, traders said.

They said Tate & Lyle of London was the lowest bidder. The shipment is due in two equal instalments on May 25 and June 4.

The company also made the lowest offer of $229.73 per tonne for supplying 25,000 tonnes of sugar in an earlier tender held by state-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh on Saturday, the result of which is expected later on Sunday.-Reuters
