in traffic mishap

NAWABSHAH: Ghulam Mohammad, younger brother of former Senator Ghulam Qadir Chandio and his wife expired after a road accident on Sunday morning while their daughter and driver sustained serious injuries.

According to local sources, Chandio along with his wife Sahibzadi, daughter Bibi Anum and driver Qasim Chandio, was going to Hyderabad in car which collided with a stationary trailer near Saboo Rahu on National Highway, some 23 kilometres from here.

The mishap resulted in severe injuries to all the four occupants of the car. The injured were rushed to Peoples Medical College Hospital for treatment, Ghulam Mohammad Chandio and his wife Sahibzadi later died at the hospital. Their bodies were shifted to their village Munhal Khan Chandio for burial.

Their daughter Bibi Anum and driver were admitted to hospital's Orthopaedic and Neuro-surgery departments for further treatment.

It may be mentioned that Ghulam Abbas Chandio, the elder brother of ex-senator Ghulam Qadir Chandio also died in a road accident in 1993 when he was an advisor to cheif minister during the PPP's tenure.

The burial of Ghulam Mohammad Chandio was held at village Punhal Khan Chandio and largely attended by party leaders, workers, relatives, friends and people from various walk of life.ÑAPP
