Legislative
framework for
news agencies
soon: Jabbar
KARACHI: The installation ceremony of newly elected body of APP Employees Union Sindh (CBA), was held here on Thursday.
Javed Jabbar Chief Executive's Advisor on National Affairs, Information and Media Development administered the oath.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the government, in consultation with the newspapers, will make legislative framework for news agencies as soon as possible.
The advisor said presidents of CPNE and APNS had already discussed this issue with him and sought legislation to ensure professional standards by news agencies.
Referring to the demand of APP Union, he said the constitution of 7th Wage Board Award will be announced in the coming weeks with the consent of newspapers owners.
He said with the help of provincial government and Sindh Governor will be sought for acquiring a suitable piece of land for the office of APP Karachi Bureau.
He also agreed that the senior journalists from APP will be posted abroad instead of outsiders.
To another demand about the shortage of editorial staff, he said he will try to get the ban lifted on fresh recruitment for APP to overcome this shortage.
The Bureau Chief of APP Abdul Qadir Qureshi and President APP Employees Union Khushood Ali Shaikh also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the problems and sought redressal.
Later, a Mehfil e Naa't was also held which was largely attended.ÑAPP
