Nepra studying KESC's distribution licence proposal
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is considering a proposal to allow the KESC to grant distribution licences, whereby, direct supplies could be made to bulk consumers.
In a statement on Friday, Nepra said that it had received an application from the KESC for grant of distribution licences. The regulatory body will hold a hearing on the application on April 4 at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
The hearing will discuss at length the question whether large housing colonies, hotels and plazas could be treated as bulk power consumers. Moreover, service territory of the KESC and improvement of services and other related issues will come under consideration during the hearing.
Nepra has invited industrialists, agriculturists, representatives of housing colonies and general public to come up with written as well as verbal comments and suggestions.
