19 satellite clinics set up

KARACHI: The Sindh Population Welfare Department has established 19 satellite clinics in district East Karachi where people were provided the facilities of family planning methods.

This was stated at a meeting of family welfare workers of 29 centres of district East Karachi. It was chaired by Secretary Population Welfare and Health Mrs. Rukhsana Saleem at her office.

The Secretary was informed that 8 satellite clinics were established at Family Welfare Centre of Aleemabad, 8 at Steel Town, 2 at Nadeem Medical Centre and one at Khokhrapar Centre during the month of March, a statement said on Friday.

The Secretary directed the family welfare workers of all the centres of Sub-Urban areas to establish such clinics, twice a week to provide family planning facilities to the people.

She directed them to hold the meetings with the people of different areas and create awareness about family planning programme and birth control methods.

She directed to activate the centres and to improve the performance. She also directed that the action will be taken against those who will not perform their duties properly.

She further directed the Health and Population Welfare Departments to jointly organise free medical camps at Ibrahim Hydri and Memon Goth to provide these facilities to the rural masses.

The meeting was attended among others by the Director General, Population Welfare, Ghulam Akbar Bhutto, Additional Secretaries, Arifa Shamsa, Nasim Shahid, Deputy Secretary Yasmin Kazi and family welfare workers of 29 centres of district East. APP
